Anzac Biscuits Recipe
We are doing this thing about Anzac day and I chose to do the Activity about Anzac biscuits and this is what I found out and here is a recipe and some facts about Anzac biscuits.
you will need:
- 1/2 a cup of plain flour
- 1/2 a cup of white sugar
- 3/4 of a cup of rolled oats
- 3/4 of a cup of coconut
- 1/2 a teaspoon of baking soda
- 100 grams of butter
- 1 tablespoon of golden syrup
- 2 tablespoons of boiling water
- mix together flour, sugar, rolled oats, and coconut in a bowl
- get Adult help to melt the butter and golden syrup in a saucepan over low heat
- put the baking soda in a cup and get an adult to help you add the boiling water to the cup. The mixture should foam up and then add this mixture to the golden syrup and butter mixture
- pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients
- stir well
- grease a baking tray and put tablespoonfuls onto the tray and they need to be at about 4 centimeters apart
- bake them at 180c for about 15 minutes or until the biscuits are golden colour
Facts about Anzac biscuits:
- we remember the people who died at war by making the Anzac biscuits
- Anzac stands for Australia New Zealand Army Corps
- also families commemorate the day by making Anzac day
- it seems that the first Anzac biscuits were made by mothers, girlfriends and wives who were left at home with soldiers who have gone to war
- Nobody knows who made the very first Anzac biscuits
- these women wanted to send parcels of food over but they had to go in navy ships and there were no refrigerators so the food had to be long lasting as well as being healthy and tasty
